On Friday, September 18, our Girls’ Empowerment Program presented the next stage of the program, running from September through December 2026 and reaching 25 schools across San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo. During this stage, we expect to reach more than 500 additional girls with menstrual health education and empowerment workshops.
Since its launch in January 2023, the program has reached more than 5,000 girls, providing menstrual health education designed to help girls feel informed, confident and empowered, while supporting one of our main goals: helping girls stay in school. The program is made possible through our ongoing collaboration agreement with the Secretary of Education of the State of Guanajuato, which allows us to bring the workshops directly into schools and reach girls during their regular school hours. During Friday’s presentation, more than 50 educational authorities and teachers attended to learn about the program firsthand. Our educators Lori, Ana, Arleth, Mariana and Arlene presented each of the program’s modules, explained the methodology, and answered questions from the participants. Our project leader, Kerry Fautsch, also shared an emotional message, thanking the teachers and educational authorities for their continued support and commitment to the program. This new stage is possible thanks to the generous support of the 49er Breakfast Rotary Club of Nevada City, other Rotary Clubs in California and Nevada, and The Rotary Foundation. Every workshop represents an opportunity to give a girl knowledge, confidence and the tools she needs to continue her education. We are proud to continue working together with our partners to create brighter opportunities for girls in our communities.
