La Biblioteca’s Gift of the Year: Life-Changing ScholarshipsTuesday, June 18, 2024
Arguably the largest pillar of the San Miguel community is the 70-year-old nonprofit Biblioteca Publica, whose most impactful program features 102 high school and university scholarships that are lifting kids out of economic dire straits. The program is so successful that the present scholarship retention rate is 97 percent.
“This amazing program supports the critical necessity of education in Mexico as the transformative central element of the future of Mexico as it rises to become a leading industrial power,” said Bill Graham, who with his wife Kathryn co-chairs the Biblioteca Scholarship Fundraising Committee. |

Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF)Tuesday, June 11, 2024
For the past 27 years, the eyes of the film industry have been on León, San Miguel de Allende and Irapuato for the Guanajuato International Film Festival. The festival was created in 1997 as a direct response to a crisis in the Mexican film industry, which at the time was only producing between four and seven feature films a year.

Feed the Hungry: Celebrating 40 Years of Service to the CommunityTuesday, January 30, 2024
Through their school kitchens in 47 various locations, Feed the Hungry provides more than 5,000 hot, well-balanced meals every school day. They also deliver foodstuffs for the daily meals of hundreds of orphans, children with disabilities, and elderly who are served by seven local urban charities. The food is donated or purchased and distributed by a network of volunteer drivers and prepared by volunteer and paid cooking staff at the schools.
